GroundAware is a family of digital surveillance radars built by Observation Without Limits, used to protect land and water perimeters, restricted areas and low-altitude airspace. The manufacturer reports deployment at roughly 400 critical infrastructure and government sites worldwide. A single sensor watches ground that would otherwise need a long line of fence detection, tracking and classifying what moves across it.
OWL GroundAware in one paragraph.
What we deploy.
GA1360 2D Radar
The compact perimeter unit. Continuous coverage around a single sensor, tracking movement across open ground and classifying it before it reaches your fence. Suits substations, reservoirs, plant and mid-sized sites.
GA4120 2D Radar
The long-reach unit for genuinely large sites — mine boundaries, energy facilities and industrial estates where the perimeter runs well beyond what a compact radar can cover.
GroundAware Command Interface
A map-based view where detections appear as positions rather than alarms. Draw the zones that matter, let everything else pass, and cue cameras onto whatever is worth looking at.
Deterrence and Response Integration
Detections trigger lights, sirens and two-way voice alongside camera slew-to-cue — which is what matters on a site where a response vehicle cannot arrive before damage is done.
Where GroundAware fits.
We specify GroundAware where the perimeter runs for kilometres and target classification is what makes the system usable rather than exhausting — large mine boundaries, industrial plant, substations, reservoirs and conservation land. Detections cue cameras for visual confirmation and can trigger lights, sirens and two-way voice, which matters most on sites where a response vehicle cannot arrive in time. The drone-capable units address a threat South African sites are only starting to plan for. Kevlar Risk is an authorised agent and systems integrator for OWL GroundAware in South Africa.
