Hikvision manufactures across the whole surveillance range, but the part that matters in our work is the thermal line — particularly the bi-spectrum positioning systems that pair a thermal channel with a long-range optical channel on one motorised head. Thermal finds the heat signature in the dark; optical zooms in and tells you what it is. Several of these systems also detect developing fire and smoke at distance, which in South African conditions is a genuinely separate business case from intrusion.
Hikvision in one paragraph.
What we deploy.
Bi-spectrum Positioning Systems
Thermal and optical in one motorised head. The thermal channel detects heat at long range in the dark; the optical channel zooms in to show you who it is. Built for the far end of a mine or a reserve where one mast has to cover everything.
Fire and Smoke Detection
The same head watches for developing fire and for smoke at distance — not a smoke detector in a ceiling, but early warning across open country. On a plantation, a mine dump or a farm in fire season, that is a second reason to own it.
Thermal Bullet and Turret Cameras
Fixed thermal for specific approaches and choke points, where the job is to watch one line reliably rather than scan a landscape.
Laser Illuminated PTZ
Long-range optical with laser illumination for identification well beyond where conventional IR gives up.
Perimeter Analytics
Line crossing, intrusion, and area entry and exit rules running on the camera itself, so a detection is an event with a rule behind it rather than motion on a recording.
Built for Harsh Sites
Anti-corrosion housings and a wiper that clears the lens when it rains. Small things, until the camera is on a headgear forty kilometres from your nearest technician.
Where Hikvision fits.
We specify Hikvision thermal where a site needs long-range detection and identification from a limited number of mounting points — mine boundaries, plantations, farms and industrial sites with one good high position and a great deal of ground to cover. The fire and smoke capability matters here in a way it does not in Europe: veld and plantation fire is a seasonal certainty, and a system bought for security that also gives early fire warning is a different conversation with a finance director. Everything integrates into ASOP alongside the rest of the estate. Which configuration suits your site depends on the distances involved and what you need to see at the far end of them, so we would rather walk it with you.
