ABOUT KEVLAR RISK

Twenty-two years of pattern recognition.

Kevlar Risk is what happens when three security companies with two decades of scar tissue are consolidated into one operation — and given a platform built by its own developers. Across the group: over 500 sites connected, more than 1,000 cameras deployed, seven provinces covered, and over 80 years of combined experience in physical and electronic security.

Where we come from

Three companies. Twenty-two years. One operation.

Kevlar Risk is not a start-up with a new logo. It is the consolidation of three established security enterprises into a single operational group, carrying their people, their systems and their scars into one business.

UTM Group

Unified Threat Management. Built on the premise that loss is predictable, detectable and preventable. Integrated sensors into single platforms years before IoT existed as a category, and ran retail risk alongside group forensics at some of the country’s largest retailers.

Blacklight Group

Consulting and risk advisory across estates, conservation and industrial environments. The customer base was sold in 2022; the methodology and the people came here.

ITACC

Integrated Tactical Advisory Command and Control. The first cloud-based monitoring centre in South Africa, and the first to run entirely on solar and battery power. It ceased trading and became what is now Kevlar Monitoring.

Track record

Where our team has already done this.

The deployments below were delivered under UTM Group and Blacklight Group. They are the reason Kevlar Risk starts with two decades of pattern recognition rather than a first project.

1,200 stores, one group

Risk and loss prevention across the Edcon group — Edgars, Jet, Jet Mart, CNA and Boardmans — then one of South Africa’s largest retailers, plus 32 Cambridge Foods stores under Massmart, and national liquor chains and distribution centres.

Seven large estates

Silver Lakes, Pecanwood, Serengeti, Blue Valley and Estate D’Afrique in Gauteng, and Raptor’s View and Blyde Wildlife Estate in the Hoedspruit Lowveld — golf, residential and wildlife estates with very different perimeters and very different risks.

Anti-poaching at the top end

Anti-poaching and conservation security work, including with the world’s largest private rhino breeding operation and reserves in the Hoedspruit and KwaZulu-Natal regions. We do not publish which properties we secure, for their protection.

The group

Seven divisions. One operating standard.

Kevlar Risk is one division of the Kevlar group, held one hundred percent by Kevlar Resources (Pty) Ltd. Each company in the group is a separate private company with its own directors and its own shareholding. What that structure removes is the seam that normally sits between the security contractor, the network provider, the power supplier and the monitoring centre — four suppliers, four contracts, and four conversations about whose fault it is when a site goes dark.

Kevlar Risk

Intelligent electronic security — surveillance, access control, secure networks, radar and integration. This division. Wholly owned by Kevlar Resources.

Kevlar Monitoring

AI offsite monitoring built around SARA, our agentic AI operator, with every flag verified by a trained controller before it reaches you. The control room runs 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

Communications

Kadara Communications and Northwest Networks — enterprise internet, wireless broadband, fibre, GSM, satellite and point-to-point field networks, under ICASA licence.

Kevlar Mining

Exploration through extraction, processing and beneficiation to international sale.

Kevlar Energy

Power quality and efficiency first, generation second — static var generation, power factor correction, hybrid solar and containerised power.

Kevlar Medical

Telemedicine distribution and integration, putting clinical-grade measurement where the specialists are not.

Kevlar Resources (Pty) Ltd is the holding company and the contracting arm for large multi-party programmes. Black shareholding at group level is 26%, held by E-Mbizo Solutions Developers (Pty) Ltd, and flows through to each division. B-BBEE status is determined per entity by verified scorecard; certificates available on request.

The platform

ASOP: one layer over everything the site produces.

Most integrators resell a manufacturer’s platform and inherit its limits. We built our own aggregation layer. ASOP — our AI Security Orchestration Platform — sits over the published open APIs of Cambium cnMaestro X and Dahua DoLynk, alongside software our own developers write. It aggregates every connected source, builds operational context, prioritises by risk and coordinates the response, rather than presenting an operator with hundreds of alarms. SARA — our Speaking Autonomous Responsive Agent — runs continuous oversight across it. That is why we can put AI on the cameras you already own instead of selling you new ones.

How we are built

Small core. Controlled delivery. No strangers on your site.

Three directors, three software developers and five engineers covering development and technical support, with AI agents handling work that would otherwise need headcount. Our security and network operations centre sits in the Hartbeespoort and Brits corridor, and our head office at Lanseria Corporate Park. Where a deployment needs more hands, they come from inside the group: North West Networks is wholly owned by Kevlar Resources, Kadara Networks is 66% owned, and Stealth Security, a sister company in Durban, delivers our KwaZulu-Natal work — including AECI, Blendcor and the Radisson Blu Umhlanga.

Focused where we are strongest. Capable where you need us.

Gauteng, North West, Limpopo

Our own teams, our own vehicles, our own control room. Head office at Lanseria, operations centre in the Brits corridor, and most of our mining work within a few hours’ drive.

Proven at national scale

The Swiftnet rollout took us to 180 GSM tower sites across the entire country. National delivery is something we have done, not something we claim.

Cross-border capability

Group teams and vetted contractors extend delivery beyond our core provinces and across borders where a client needs it.

This is the work.

Who you will actually deal with.

Three directors, one at each function. You will not be handed to an account manager you never met during the sale.

Design & delivery standards

Specified against frameworks, not preferences.

Programme and system specifications are aligned to the following frameworks and legislation. Certification status per standard is available on request.

ISO 27001 information security · ISO 22301 business continuity · ISO 9001 quality management · SANS 10142-1 electrical installation · SANS 10139 fire detection and alarm · POPIA & RICA data protection and interception · PSIRA private security regulation

How we work

We would rather not take the work than take it badly.

Security that is bought without engagement gets installed without understanding, and it fails quietly. We would rather walk away from a client who is not willing to engage with the risk than sell them equipment that makes everyone feel better and protects nothing. That is not salesmanship. It is the reason our deployments last.
